TOP 10 CELEBRITY DINNER PARTY GUESTS

DINNER PARTY

It's my favourite question to ask around a busy dinner table of strangers or even on a first date. I love watching people squirm as they choose, then drop one, then pick a new one, to then bring the old one back - pure joy. Not only is it a visual delight, but an insightful one too. Who are the people they have chosen to look up to? Who intrigues them? For what reason? A wonderful conversation starter and fun evening with your loved ones. So here are mine, but more importantly, who are yours? Tell me.

OPRAH WINFREY - INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKER, TV HOST & AUTHOR

Come on, you knew it would be in there. I have always loved this woman's warmth, but her leadership and change making over particularly the last five years have been nothing but astounding. Enough said.

ANTHONY BOURDAIN - CHEF & TV HOST

I love this man's utter non-compliance with almost everything. A down to earth rebel that oozes pure truth. He manages to influence every person he meets to come down to his level of naughtiness on his worldly adventures. A truly talented host doing cooking shows differently from day dot.

JOANNA LUMLEY - COMEDIAN

Is there anything better than an elegant woman who can make you laugh till you cry? Nope. Not only is this Goddess stunning, but her seductive vocal chords take you to another place entirely in her recent documentary series. If I get blessed with even 10% of her grace through ageing I will be ecstatic.

MICHAEL MCINTYRE - COMEDIAN

I believe he may be the greatest comedian in history. I love how he grabs the absolute mundane and floors us with his intelligent and hilarious observations.

JAMIE OLIVER - CHEF & TV HOST

A modern-day change maker. It's hard to remember a life without JO's books on the shelf and the rise of the culinary industry has a lot to do with this enthusistic blonde fella. I remember the rawness of 'Naked Chef' when it first aired in 1999, the way he casually dressed and simply cooked easy delicious meals for his cool friends. I was inpsired and smitten.

ELLEN DEGENERES - TV HOST

She is walking love. So modest in her charitable pursuits, but fiercely unstoppable. She was my first gay role model and I will be forever grateful for her bravery. She chooses laughter in the face of adversity and proves how healing that can be.

ALAIN DE BOTTON - AUTHOR

Word porn. Pure, word porn. If you are yet to read 'Essays in Love' or 'The Course of Love' especially please stop what you are doing and dive into this man's fantastic musings on modern love and other such philosophy.

DAVID BECKHAM - PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER

Pretty, gentle, generous & talented. I could go on, but people would start to talk. A complete family man that has a heart of gold.

THICH NHAT HANH - BUDDHIST MONK

Finding meditation & mindfulness has been one of my greatest treasures. This Vietnamese Buddhist Monk is a true peace activist. I have been blessed to be immersed in his teachings on a retreat and one day hope to visit his home in 'Plum Village' in France.

LOUIS THEROUX - DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKER

A very tactful and intelligent man. An inspiration to be a graceful and fair interviewer, remembering there is always two sides to every story. A fella who wears awkward so very well.

Pour another glass of wine and tell me yours.

Big love.

Would love dinner with Andrew & Jennifer Denton. I think they would be so interesting. Cheers Gloria

  • Leigh Redlich

Not alive unfortunately but I’ve always said Robin Williams and any 9 other people to laugh in awe. He could impersonate any other person and once he gets started no one else would get a word in anyway
